Jackson, MS-The Belhaven men's soccer team continued their solid play Saturday night at Newell Field defeating Shorter College 2-1. The Blazers are off to one of their best starts in ten years as they remain unbeaten at 10-0-1 after the victory over the Hawks. Shorter has now lost two games this week after being ranked 16
th in the latest NAIA Top 25 poll. Belhaven is currently ranked 15
th with the new poll set to come out this Tuesday.
Current GCAC Offensive Player of the Week Juan Rodriguez scored two more goals to give him a team leading 10 on the season. The scores came in the second and 33rd minutes of Saturday's contest. The only goal for Shorter was knocked in by Belhaven's Jamie Caul otherwise Zach Wallace would have had another shutout.
The Blazers will renew an old tradition in their next match when they take on Reinhardt College Saturday October 11th in "The Bowl" on the Belhaven College Campus. All the action gets underway at 4 PM.
